Coast of Maine’s “Growing Good” Program:
Supporting Schools, Public Gardens, and Non-Profit Initiatives
Soil Donations Enriching Educational Spaces
At Coast of Maine Brands, our commitment extends beyond commerce, aiming to bolster education, engage local retailers, and empower students in making choices that benefit their physical, emotional, and environmental well-being. Rather than a monetary contribution, we are pleased to provide Coast of Maine products to schools, public gardens, and non-profit initiatives. We invite all qualifying gardens within our retail market area to participate, making the process seamless and accessible.
Here’s How It Works: Garden coordinators can complete the Request Form below. Upon approval, we will collaborate with your local Coast of Maine retailer to set aside up to 10 cubic feet of soil for your garden.
This donation not only supports your program, it strengthens the bond between the local retailer and the community. It serves as a foundation, nurturing children’s enduring passion for gardening, health, and environmental awareness. In essence, it’s a collective victory for us all.
Aligned with the longstanding philosophy of the Coast of Maine brand, emphasizing the exclusive availability of our locally crafted products through independent retailers and garden centers, we kindly ask garden coordinators to collect their donations from local retailers. Furthermore, we encourage you to publicly express gratitude on your social media platforms, acknowledging and thanking the local retailer. This dual act provides recognition and generates community support for local businesses. It’s a win-win scenario!
Terms and Conditions of Donations: Coast of Maine operates within a finite budget for charitable contributions and cannot guarantee fulfillment of all requests. We request that donation inquiries be submitted at least 30 days before your planned planting or usage date for consideration. Each request will undergo a case-by-case evaluation for approval.

Kids Harvest! The Kittery School District is grateful for the generous donation of 10 bags of Lobster Compost we received last year. Students used this rich compost to help revive a Butterfly Garden that was in need of some TLC. Thank you for your support, Coast of Maine!

R.W. Traip AcademyWe treasured our many bags of the lobster shell compost! The pollinator garden got a good dose, as did the fruit trees our eighth graders plant each year before they graduate. Thank you for helping us make our soils healthier for plants and other organisms!

Friends School of Portland"How does our garden grow? Fabulous--with the Coast of Maine! " Our year-old pollinator garden needed a boost. Coast of Maine compost and potting soil took us from lackluster to lush in just a month. The birds, butterflies and bees love the garden--we counted 30 bees and 1 monarch on one plant! Thank you, Coast of Maine for supporting our school garden
